About Us:
Western Work Force is a specialist recruitment provider supporting the mining, civil, engineering and industrial sectors across Western Australia.
We work closely with both clients and candidates to create long-term employment outcomes and provide a straightforward, professional recruitment process.
About Our Client:
Our client is an established hydraulic service provider supporting major mining, civil and industrial operations throughout Western Australia.
They provide specialist hydraulic services across fault finding, pump testing, workshop repairs, field service, breakdown support, component rebuilds, system installations and preventative maintenance.
Due to continued demand across their Pilbara operations, they are looking to add experienced Hydraulic Technicians to their permanent team.
There is flexibility around how the positions can be structured depending on the right candidate.
Current opportunities include:
- Port Hedland residential – permanent position supporting local workshop and field service requirements.
- Port Hedland support from Perth – suitable for an experienced technician able to travel from Perth as required and work flexibly around operational demand.
- Perth-based Pilbara field / shutdown work – supporting inland mining operations across shutdowns, maintenance and field service requirements.
Role Overview:
These are hands-on hydraulic positions suited to experienced technicians who can work confidently and independently across mining and heavy industrial environments.
The key requirement is genuine hydraulic expertise.
Our client needs technicians who are strong in hydraulic troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and pump testing and who can identify the cause of a problem rather than simply replace components.
Depending on the position, your work may include workshop repairs, customer-site field service, planned maintenance, shutdown support, breakdown response and hydraulic installation work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic faults across mobile and fixed plant
- Carry out hydraulic repairs, servicing and component change-outs
- Test and assess hydraulic pumps and associated equipment
- Strip, inspect and rebuild cylinders, pumps, motors and valves
- Perform planned and preventative maintenance
- Support mining shutdown and maintenance activities
- Attend breakdowns and complete field service repairs
- Install hydraulic components, pipework, hoses and power units
- Perform pressure testing, flushing and system commissioning
- Identify root causes of hydraulic failures and recommend appropriate repairs
- Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings
- Complete service reports, inspection records and job documentation
- Liaise directly with customers, supervisors and site personnel
- Work independently across workshop and customer-site environments
Experience Required:
This is not simply a general Mechanical Fitter position.
We are looking for technicians with genuine hydraulic service experience who can confidently diagnose faults and work through hydraulic problems independently.
Experience working with a specialist hydraulic engineering, component repair, hose or field service business supporting mining and heavy industry will be highly regarded.
Relevant experience includes:
- Hydraulic fault finding and troubleshooting
- Hydraulic pump testing
- Pumps, motors, cylinders and control valves
- Hydraulic power packs and associated systems
- Hose systems and installations
- Mobile mining and civil equipment
- Fixed plant hydraulic systems
- Workshop component repairs
- Field service and breakdown response
- Reading hydraulic schematics and diagnosing system faults
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Mechanical trade qualification such as Mechanical Fitter, Fitter and Turner, Plant Mechanic or similar
- Strong hydraulic service, repair and diagnostic experience
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Ability to work independently in a field service environment
- Strong safety awareness
- Good communication and service reporting skills
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and laboratory drug and alcohol screen
- Full Australian working rights
Relevant mining inductions, High Risk Work Licences and additional hydraulic qualifications will be highly regarded.
Port Hedland Opportunity
The Port Hedland position can suit either someone already living in the region or the right experienced technician travelling from Perth.
You will support the Port Hedland operation across workshop work, customer-site field service, breakdowns, hydraulic troubleshooting, pump testing, repairs and maintenance.
For a Perth-based technician, the arrangement would be flexible and driven by operational requirements rather than a rigid fixed roster.
The total days worked may work out similarly to an 8:6 arrangement over time, however the business needs someone who can be adaptable around when support is actually required in Port Hedland.
The priority is finding someone experienced enough to come into the operation and work independently from the outset.
Pilbara Inland Field / Shutdown Opportunity
There is also an ongoing permanent opportunity for an experienced Perth-based Hydraulic Technician supporting inland Pilbara operations.
This work includes shutdowns, field service, planned maintenance, breakdown support and hydraulic repairs across mining operations.
Travel will be arranged around project and customer requirements, making this well suited to someone who enjoys site and shutdown work but wants the security of a permanent ongoing position.
What We Offer:
- Permanent ongoing employment
- Rates starting from $65/hr + super, depending on experience
- Port Hedland residential opportunities
- Flexible Perth-to-Port Hedland arrangements for the right technician
- Perth-based Pilbara field and shutdown opportunities
- Consistent work supporting established mining and industrial clients
- Workshop, field service and shutdown exposure
- Varied hydraulic systems and equipment
- Long-term opportunity with an established hydraulic business
- Experienced and supportive technical team
How to Apply:
Apply now with an updated resume outlining your hydraulic experience, particularly your exposure to fault finding, pump testing, component repairs and mining field service.
We are interested in hearing from candidates looking for:
- Port Hedland residential work
- Perth-based work supporting Port Hedland
- Perth-based Pilbara field / shutdown work
- Or candidates open to a combination of the above
