National Retail Environment | Multi-Site Network | High Impact Contract Role

A major national retail organisation with 350+ stores across Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer for an initial 4-month contract, with an immediate start. This role is ideal for someone who can quickly step into a busy workplace and provide technical leadership across a large-scale, distributed network.

What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and manage the network landscape across national retail stores, distribution centres, and corporate sites.
Provide senior-level operational support for all network, security, and wireless infrastructure, ensuring availability, performance, and rapid issue resolution.
Oversee the rollout, installation, and configuration of new network equipment and store technologies, meeting tight operational timelines.
Take ownership of complex incidents, perform detailed root-cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
Support key IT projects including network upgrades, security uplifts, WAN improvements, and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
Review emerging technologies, recommend improvements, and contribute to overall network strategy during the contract period.

What You Bring




Relevant IT qualification or equivalent industry experience.
5–7+ years’ experience in senior-level networking roles, ideally across multi-site or retail environments.
Strong hands‑on expertise with Cisco routers, switches, wireless, and Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate).
Deep understanding of VPN technologies, secure remote access, routing protocols, and network security principles.
Proven ability to operate autonomously, handle high-pressure environments, and resolve issues quickly and logically.
Current or previously held CCNA / CCNP (or similar certifications) highly desirable.
Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently engage technical and operational stakeholders.
A proactive, team‑oriented attitude with resilience, flexibility and a solid work ethic.
