Technical Writer – Defence

We’re currently recruiting for a Technical Writer for our client, a global leader in defence engineering and manufacturing.

This is a full-time, permanent onsite position based in the South Canberra district. This position offers a package of $86K–$104K + 14% Super + 6 weeks annual leave, along with long-term growth opportunities in a high-tech facility.

Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and write technical publications, manuals, and documentation for defence systems
Liaise with engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to identify documentation needs
Review and edit technical and non-technical content for clarity and accuracy
Create graphics, diagrams, and illustrations to support technical content
Ensure documentation meets relevant standards and client requirements

Skills and Requirements
Engineering or Trade qualifications (Cert IV and above)
Solid background in technical writing within Defence, engineering, or related industries
Knowledge or experience in electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC and/or radio frequency (RF) systems
Excellent written communication skills, including ability to write in Plain English
Exposure to relevant standards and tools such as DEF (Aust) 5692B, S1000D, Solidworks,



CATIA CAD, and XML/structured authoring would be highly regarded

NOTE: To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian Citizen and be eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – NV1.
