Consular Clerk (Consular, Civic Service, and Immigration Section)

South African High Commission – Yarralumla ACT

The South African High Commission in Canberra is looking for a vibrant person to join our dynamic team as a Consular Clerk. This is a full time position that plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of civic and immigration services to South African citizens and other nationals. As a Consular Clerk, you will be a point of contact for applicants, providing them with relevant documentation and requirements.

Key responsibilities
Monitoring and managing correspondence on civic services and immigration related matters
Record keeping of monthly statistics for civic services and immigration
Processing applications and payments relating to civic services and immigration
Receiving, marking off, and dispatching of civic documents
Maintaining stock and facilitating requisition of stationery forms for the section
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive documentation appropriately

Requirements
Applicants must be in possession of Year 12 certificate or equivalent qualification
Tertiary qualifications will be an added advantage




Experience in an administrative or clerical role, ideally within a government, diplomatic or customer-facing environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proficiency in English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Valid Australian Police Clearance certificate
Robust organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
