We’re partnering with a well-established Sydney-based digital product consultancy that builds high-quality web and mobile platforms for recognised Australian brands.

They’re now hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help design and evolve scalable backend systems powering up-to-date digital products.

This is not a maintenance-heavy or feature-factory workplace. Engineers here have genuine ownership over architecture, API design, and technical direction.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:
Designing and building scalable backend services using Node.js & TypeScript
Developing and optimising GraphQL and REST APIs
Contributing to system architecture and technical strategy
Ensuring performance, scalability and long-term maintainability




Collaborating closely with frontend, mobile and product teams
Mentoring mid-level engineers where required

What They’re Looking For
Solid commercial experience with Node.js
Deep understanding of API design (GraphQL & REST)
Experience with microservices or distributed systems
Solid grasp of clean architecture and engineering best practices
Comfortable operating in a high-autonomy, client-facing environment

Hybrid role in Sydney - 3 days in office (Sydney CBD)
