Our Northgate clinic brings together doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and rehabilitation consultants to provide coordinated care to individuals, employers and insurers.
We are looking for a experienced Medical Receptionist to join our Northgate team and play an important role in the day-to-day running of the practice.
About the Role
This is a hands‐on medical reception role suited to someone who is organised, confident, professional and comfortable working in a busy clinical workplace.
As one of the first points of contact for our patients, doctors and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for providing a welcoming patient experience while ensuring appointments, billing, documentation and general practice administration are managed accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Welcoming patients and managing front‐desk enquiries
Answering and directing telephone and email enquiries
Booking, confirming and managing patient appointments
Managing practitioner schedules and assisting with diary flow
Processing Medicare, private and third‐party billing
Receipting payments and completing end‐of‐day administrative tasks
Managing incoming referrals, reports and clinical correspondence
Scanning, uploading and maintaining accurate patient records
Liaising with GPs, occupational physicians, nurses and allied health clinicians
Communicating with employers, insurers and other healthcare providers where required
Supporting recalls, reminders and follow‐up processes
Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy at all times
Assisting with general clinic administration and ensuring reception areas remain organised
Supporting the wider team during busy periods and providing reception coverage as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is proactive and comfortable taking ownership of their role.
Medical reception can be fast‐paced, and priorities can change quickly throughout the day.
You will ideally have:
Previous medical reception or healthcare administration experience
Strong communication and customer service skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Confidence managing multiple priorities in a busy practice
Experience with medical practice management software; Best Practice experience is highly regarded
An understanding of Medicare billing and medical terminology
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
A professional and compassionate approach when communicating with patients
The ability to work independently while also contributing to a multidisciplinary team
A strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements
Experience working with occupational health, workers' compensation, employer‐funded medicals or allied health services would be advantageous but is not essential.
