Are you an experienced aquatic professional who enjoys leading teams, ensuring safety and delivering excellent customer service?
Hepburn Shire Council is seeking a Team Leader Aquatics to support the day-to-day operations of our seasonal outdoor pools. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll oversee aquatic staff, ensure facilities operate safely and efficiently, and help create positive experiences for residents and visitors throughout the summer season.
Working across our aquatic facilities, you'll lead by example, support a team of lifeguards and aquatic staff, and contribute to the safe and effective delivery of aquatic services across the Shire.
Position Details
Seasonal Fixed Term, Part Time (0.53 FTE)
Band 5: $***** - $***** per hour, plus superannuation
Can work across seven (7) days per week, including weekends and public holidays as required: Anticipated roster pattern: Sunday to Wednesday
Location: Pools across Hepburn Shire
Reports to the Aquatics Officer

About the team
Our Aquatics team plays an important role in keeping our community active, connected and safe during the summer season. Working across Council's aquatic facilities, the team is committed to maintaining high safety standards, providing excellent customer service, and creating a welcoming environment for all pool users.
What a typical day might look like
You might start your shift by conducting water quality testing and facility inspections before briefing the day's lifeguard team. Throughout the day, you'll oversee pool operations, assist patrons, monitor safety practices, liaise with contractors regarding maintenance issues, and support staff to deliver a positive visitor experience.
No two days are the same, but every day you'll help ensure our facilities remain safe, well maintained and enjoyable for everyone.
How you'll make a difference
Supporting our community by:
overseeing the daily operations of Council's aquatic facilities
leading and supporting rostered aquatic team members
monitoring facility safety, cleanliness and presentation standards
undertaking water testing, risk assessments and operational inspections
coordinating maintenance activities and liaising with contractors as required
ensuring compliance with industry standards, legislative requirements and Council procedures
supporting emergency response readiness and safe operating practices
providing exceptional customer service to patrons and user groups
contributing positively to team objectives and Council outcomes.
About you
You'll be a capable and dependable aquatic professional with solid leadership skills and a commitment to safety, customer service and teamwork. Most importantly, you'll:
be confident supervising and supporting aquatic staff • have strong customer service and communication skills
be able to work effectively under pressure and respond to incidents appropriately
take pride in maintaining safe, clean and welcoming facilities
be organised, reliable and adaptable
enjoy working with a diverse community of pool users.
Essential requirements:
Current Pool Lifeguard qualification/accreditation
Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
Pool Operators Certificate (or equivalent)
Current Australian Driver Licence
Current Employee Working with Children Check
National Criminal History Check
