Financial Business Analyst – Auto Finance
We are seeking an experiencedFinancial Business Analystwith strong Australian auto finance experience to join our team.
This role will work closely with Australian clients and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate complex financial and lending processes into clear system requirements, and collaborate with development and testing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding ofAustralian auto finance, asset finance or consumer lending, with particular expertise in financial calculations, loan and lease products, accounting processes and payment systems.

This role will work closely with Australian clients and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate complex financial and lending processes into clear system requirements, and collaborate with development and testing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding ofAustralian auto finance, asset finance or consumer lending, with particular expertise in financial calculations, loan and lease products, accounting processes and payment systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Engagement & Requirements Analysis
Lead requirements gathering and business analysis with Australian clients, including automotive finance companies, banks, dealer groups and other financial institutions.
Work closely with internal stakeholders across Sales, Risk, Finance and Operations to understand business needs and priorities.
Develop a deep understanding of Australian automotive finance business processes and identify opportunities to improve and optimise existing workflows.
Translate high-level or ambiguous business needs into explicit, structured and actionable product and system requirements.
Facilitate workshops and discussions with business stakeholders, including senior stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs).
2. Financial Calculations & Accounting Requirements
Take ownership of requirements relating to complex financial calculation and accounting functions, including:
Calculations & Lending Logic
Loan and lease calculations, including quoting and repayment calculations.
Amortisation schedules for principal and interest repayments.
Balloon payment and residual value calculations.
APR and comparison rate calculations.
Dealer and broker commission calculations.
Fee and charge matrices.
Interest, repayment and other financial calculation rules.
Financials & Accounting
General Ledger (GL) mapping and posting rules.
Loan disbursement and payment/collection processes.
Australian payment methods and systems, including BECS Direct Debit, NPP and PayTo.
Invoice generation and financial transaction processing.
Account and transaction reconciliation.
Arrears, late payment and penalty interest calculations.
Financial reporting and accounting requirements.
Month-end accounting and transaction reversal requirements.
3. Requirements Documentation & Development Collaboration
Translate business requirements into high-qualityBusiness Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)and User Stories.
Define clear and measurableAcceptance Criteriafor system functionality.
Work closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, Developers and other technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and correctly implemented.
Support offshore development teams throughout the delivery lifecycle and resolve requirements-related questions.
4. Requirements Validation & UAT Support
Work with QA and testing teams to develop test scenarios and test cases covering financial calculations, accounting rules and business processes.
Validate the accuracy and integrity of financial calculations and system outputs.
SupportUser Acceptance Testing (UAT)and assist business stakeholders in validating that the delivered solution meets business requirements.
Investigate and clarify discrepancies between expected and actual system results.
About You
5. Industry & Business Experience
3–5+ years of Business Analyst experience in Australia, preferably withinAuto Finance, Asset Finance, Consumer Finance or related financial services.
Strong understanding of Australian automotive finance products and business processes.
Experience with one or more of the following products is highly desirable:
Consumer and Commercial Loans
Novated Leases
Chattel Mortgages
Operating Leases
Finance Leases
Experience working with lending origination, servicing, payments or financial accounting systems will be highly regarded.
6. Financial & Analytical Skills
Strong understanding of financial calculation logic, including:
Compound interest
Principal and interest repayment calculations
Amortisation
Balloon and residual value calculations
Yield and rate calculations
APR and comparison rates
Strong mathematical and analytical capability, with the ability to understand complex financial models and translate calculation logic into clear requirements for development teams.
Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to build and validate complex financial calculation models.
Sound understanding of accounting principles, including:
Debits and credits
General Ledger (GL) postings
Month-end closing
Transaction reversals
Reconciliation processes
Accounting system logic
7. Australian Regulatory & Payments Knowledge
Understanding of the Australian consumer credit and lending regulatory environment, including theNational Consumer Credit Protection (NCCP) Act, responsible lending obligations and relevantASICrequirements.
Familiarity with Australian payment and clearing systems, particularly:
BECS Direct Debit
NPP
PayTo
8. Tools & Delivery Experience
Proficiency with business analysis and requirements management tools such asJira and Confluence.
Experience working withoffshore or distributed development teamsis highly desirable.
Experience working within Agile software development environments is preferred.
9. Communication Skills
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to confidently lead workshops and requirements discussions with Australian clients, senior stakeholders and business SMEs.
Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
Ability to explain complex financial and technical concepts clearly to both business and technical audiences.
10. Chinese Language Skills
Mandarin Chinese communication skills are required to facilitate effective communication and collaboration with our China-based development and delivery teams.
