Senior Defence Engineering Managers - Maritime Capability & Sustainment
Our client supports complex Australian Defence maritime capability acquisition, transition and sustainment programs.
About the opportunities
We are recruiting multiple senior Engineering Managers to support Defence maritime programs across two key workstreams:
Capability acquisition, transition and Introduction Into Service
Evolved Cape Class Patrol Boat support-system remediation and sustainment
These are senior engineering leadership roles focused on governance, technical assurance, capability transition, certification, configuration management and long-term supportability.
The successful candidates will operate as trusted engineering advisers, working across Defence, Navy, SPO, military, logistics, sustainment and industry stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
Provide senior engineering leadership and technical advice
Exercise or support delegated Engineering Authority arrangements
Establish engineering requirements for transition and remediation activities
Provide engineering governance and technical assurance
Identify, assess and manage technical risks
Support capability acquisition, transition and Introduction Into Service
Prepare and review Engineering Management Plans and transition documentation
Support safety cases, technical certification plans and acceptance activities
Conduct technical investigations and provide recommendations
Oversee engineering inspections, testing and evaluation
Manage engineering change and configuration-control activities
Establish and maintain controlled design baselines
Lead or support Maintenance Task Analysis programs
Oversee configuration audits and baseline verification
Support technical data remediation, including drawings, maintenance documentation and Illustrated Parts Catalogues
Ensure engineering outcomes are safe, compliant and supportable
Advise stakeholders on sustainment and in-service support impacts
Work closely with Defence, Navy, SPO and industry partners

Requirements
Degree qualification in engineering or a related discipline
Senior engineering-management experience within Defence or another highly regulated environment
Strong engineering governance and technical-assurance capability
Experience managing technical risk, certification and acceptance
Knowledge of Defence capability acquisition and sustainment
Experience developing and reviewing engineering and project artefacts
Strong configuration-management and change-control experience
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Ability to operate autonomously as a trusted engineering adviser
Australian citizenship and ability to meet Defence security requirements
Highly regarded experience
Defence maritime systems and sustainment
Capability transition and Introduction Into Service
Previous experience within an SPO, CASG or Defence capability workplace
Delegated Engineering Authority arrangements
Maintenance Task Analysis
Design-baseline development and configuration audits
CPEng and RPEQ qualifications
Current NV1 security clearance
Important ECCPB requirement
Candidates being considered for the Evolved Cape Class Patrol Boat workstream must have:
Recent and direct ECCPB platform or support-system experience
Current NV1 clearance
Engineering Authority, configuration-management and technical-assurance experience
Candidates without ECCPB experience may still be considered for the broader capability transition and Introduction Into Service workstream.
