Senior SMP Designer – Mining & Mineral Processing

Due to continued project growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking an experienced Senior SMP Designer to join ourMelbourne engineering team.
This role will support the design and development of mineral processing plants and bulk materials handling facilities, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across studies, detailed design and project execution.
The position is primarily based in our West Melbourne office; however, experienced Perth-based candidates will also be considered
The Role
As an SMP Designer, you will be responsible for developing2D and 3D plant layouts and modelsfor mining and mineral processing facilities.
Typical plant areas include:
Crushing and screening circuits
Grinding and milling equipment
Pumps, slurry handling and process equipment
Thickeners and process tanks
Conveyors and bulk materials handling systems
Chutes, hoppers and transfer stations
Equipment and piping arrangements
You will work closely withprocess, mechanical, civil, structural and electrical engineersto deliver high-quality plant designs acrossstudy and detailed design phases.
Key Responsibilities
Develop2D and 3D plant layouts for mineral processing facilities
Producestructural, mechanical and piping (SMP) layouts
Preparegeneral arrangement drawings and detailed design drawings




Develop and maintain3D models of process plants
Assist withclash detection and model coordination
Coordinate designs withmultidisciplinary engineering teams
Produceconstruction documentation and drawing packages
Support engineering teams duringstudy and project delivery phases
Develop equipment arrangements, access, maintenance and constructability requirements
Incorporate vendor data and engineering requirements into plant models
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
8+ years experienceas an SMP Designer within an engineering consultancy/EPCM environment, preferably across mining and mineral processing projects
Strong experience producing2D and 3D plant designs
Strong hands‐onMicroStationcapability
Experience developingplant layouts and equipment arrangements
Strong understanding ofmineral processing plants and materials handling systems
Ability to work effectively withinmultidisciplinary engineering teams
Experience taking designs from study-level layouts through to detailed design
A practical understanding of constructability, equipment access and maintenance requirements
Experience designing areas such ascrushing circuits, grinding circuits, conveyors, slurry pumping systems and process equipment installationswill be highly regarded.
