About the position

The City of Wanneroo is seeking a proactive and motivated Senior Risk Management Officer to join our Office of the CEO.
Reporting to the Coordinator Risk Management, you will play a key role in delivering the City's enterprise risk management framework, providing expert advice and supporting business units to identify, assess and manage risk across a broad range of services and projects.

What you'll be doing
As Senior Risk Management Officer, you will:
Provide expert advice and guidance on enterprise risk management across the organisation.
Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of the City's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Facilitate risk workshops and assist business units to identify, assess and manage organisational risks.
Review and monitor corporate risk registers, ensuring controls and mitigation strategies remain effective.
Coordinate the review and maintenance of the City's Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans.
Prepare high-quality reports, recommendations and risk analysis to support informed decision‐making.
Identify opportunities for business improvement and promote a positive risk management culture.
Maintain risk registers, databases and reporting systems to ensure information is accurate, current and compliant.
Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver quality customer‐focused outcomes.
About you
You are an organised and analytical professional who enjoys working collaboratively to solve problems and improve business outcomes.
You communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels and are comfortable managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
You will also have:
Qualifications in Risk Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience in a risk management, governance or compliance role within a large and complex organisation.
Well‐developed analytical, research and problem‐solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate reports.
Experience facilitating discussions, providing advice and building effective stakeholder relationships.
Sound knowledge of risk management principles and relevant legislation.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A current C Class Driver's Licence.
Local Government experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.

What we're looking for
To thrive in this role, you'll need to have:
Tertiary qualifications in finance, business, economics, risk management or related fields;
Professional certifications are highly desirable (for example CPA, CA, CIA)
A minimum of 7-10 years' experience in risk, assurance and compliance fields.
Strong analytical skills and problem‐solving ability.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills that covers multiple stakeholders from different professional backgrounds at different levels of the organisation.
Experience in uplifting the maturity of governance functions and influencing change.
The role
You will be assisting and contributing towards the Risk and Assurance team's major accountabilities, including, but not limited to, the following:
Promote a robust risk culture that encourages staff across all levels to be risk aware and proactive in the identification and treatment of risk to minimise the impact on Silverchain, its staff and clients.
Facilitate the delivery of Silverchain's assurance requirements, including conducting audits and overseeing outsourced assurance activities.
Assist to maintain Silverchain's national business continuity arrangements, such as the Crisis and Incident Management Plan and Business Continuity arrangements.
Support the maintenance of processes and controls to manage, monitor and report Silverchain's fraud and corruption risks.
Support the establishment and maintenance of a compliance framework and system to assess, monitor and report on Silverchain's compliance obligations.
Assist with the annual renewal of Silverchain's insurance program.
Delivery of training, testing and awareness activities to promote an uplift of maturity in all of the areas the Risk and Assurance team has responsibility.
Preparation of Briefing Notes and reports for Board, Audit and Risk Management Committee, Board Clinical Governance Committee and Group Executive.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage day‐to‐day service operations across the Goldfields
