The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and managing all LAS logistics, freight and shipping operations.
The role is accountable for ensuring customer orders, parts, consumables, trade show materials, service, R&D; shipments are shipped according to scheduled ship dates whilst meeting customer expectations, quality requirements and company policies.
This is a hands-on leadership position that combines people leadership, operational management and direct participation in logistics activities.
The Logistics Manager remains actively involved in complex and business-critical shipments while leading the team responsible for day-to-day logistics execution.
The position serves as the focal point for logistics performance, freight management and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring efficient and compliant movement of Brooks LAS goods.
What you'll do:
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Establish clear expectations, responsibilities and performance standards aligned with Brooks values and behaviours.
Manage workload allocation, resource planning and operational coverage to support changing business needs.
Build team capability through coaching, development and performance management.
Promote strong cross-functional collaboration to achieve customer and business objectives.
Logistics Operations
Be accountable for the safe, efficient and effective execution of logistics operations and customer delivery outcomes.
Lead and manage daily warehousing picking, packing and dispatch activities.
Ensure customer orders, inventory movements and shipping requirements are processed accurately, efficiently and on time.
Monitor workload, shipment status and operational priorities, proactively resolving issues before customer impact occurs.
Monitor packaging supply levels and ensure sufficient stock is available to support uninterrupted logistics operation.
Ensure shipping documentation is completed accurately, promptly and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
Maintain organised, efficient and safe warehouse, shipping and packaging environments.
Investigate shipping discrepancies and implement corrective actions where required.
Implement and maintain effective logistics processes, controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide hands-on leadership and operational support during peak workloads, critical delivery periods and business priorities.
Manage relationships with freight forwarders, transport providers, couriers and customs brokers.
Serve as the organisation's logistics subject matter expert for international shipping, import/export requirements and customs processes.
Coordinate domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance with import, export and customs requirements.
Ensure commercial invoices, packing declarations, certificates and shipping documentation are completed accurately and in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Negotiate freight rates and service agreements while balancing service, cost and operational performance.
Monitor carrier performance, freight expenditure and shipment exceptions.
Develop contingency plans and lead resolution of critical delivery, transportation and customs issues.
Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on shipment routing, transportation options, customs considerations and international logistics best practices.
Monitor changes in international transportation and trade requirements that may impact business operations.
Support Strategic & Specialised Logistics Activities
Lead logistics planning and execution for trade shows, exhibitions, customer demonstrations and other business-critical events.
Coordinate logistics activities for R&D; projects, evaluation & demonstation units, and other specialised shipments.
Act as the primary escalation point for complex or business-critical logistics challenges, ensuring successful delivery outcomes.
Work closely with Trade Compliance, Quality and Customer Operations teams to support compliant shipment execution.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure logistics activities comply with company policies, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate shipment records, documentation and audit readiness.
Promote a safety-first culture and ensure the safe handling, storage and transportation of goods.
Investigate logistics-related quality issues and implement corrective and preventative actions where required.
Support internal and external audits as required.
What you'll bring:
Experience
Minimum 7 years' experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation or supply chain operations, including domestic and international freight, customs requirements and complex shipping activities.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience coordinating complex or project-based logistics activities, including trade shows, exhibitions, customer demonstrations, engineering projects and specialised shipments.
Current Forklift Licence (LF) is required.
Experience operating within a manufacturing, regulated or quality-driven environment is highly regarded.
Formal qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience will be highly regarded
Dangerous Goods certification (Air, Sea and/or Road), or experience managing Dangerous Goods shipments, would be desirable.
Technical Knowledge & Systems
Advanced knowledge of domestic and international logistics operations.
Strong understanding of import/export processes, customs requirements, international shipping documentation and global transportation practices.
Practical knowledge of export documentation requirements, including commercial invoices, packing declarations, certificates of origin, letters of credit and other trade-related documentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of freight forwarding, carrier management, Incoterms®, and transportation planning.
Ability to coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers to support compliant and efficient international trade activities.
Sound knowledge of warehouse operations, material handling processes and logistics best practices.
Experience using Oracle Fusion or similar ERP systems and freight management platforms.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
