Where you'll be working:
The John Hunter Hospital Engineering Department consists of over 50 dedicated staff responsible for reactive and planned maintenance across the John Hunter Hospital campus and associated facilities.
The team supports a diverse range of buildings, plant and equipment that are critical to delivering healthcare services to the Hunter New England community.
You'll be part of a collaborative mechanical team working alongside experienced tradespeople and reporting directly to the Mechanical Supervisor.
About the role:
As a Fitter, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a broad range of mechanical systems and equipment across the hospital campus.
Your work will include:
Reactive breakdown maintenance and fault finding
Preventive maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment
Maintenance of air conditioning and pumping systems
General fitting and fabrication work
Repairs and maintenance of hospital equipment including patient beds, wheelchairs, trolleys and IV poles
Supporting the ongoing reliability and performance of critical hospital infrastructure

Remuneration and benefits:
Applicants who can demonstrate five years of post-trade employment experience will commence at Level 4 of the NSW Health Skilled Trades Award, with a salary of $75,882 per annum + award allowances + overtime.

About you:
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
A completed mechanical trade apprenticeship
Trade Certificate and Tradesman's Certificate of Proficiency
Solid fitting and maintenance experience
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
A commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Post-trade qualifications will be highly regarded.
