The Opportunity
Play a pivotal role in strengthening financial governance and accountability across Noosa Council.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this influential position will lead Council's financial management assurance function, providing independent advice on financial governance, internal controls, compliance and risk management to support transparent, effective and responsible decision-making.

About You
You're a highly credible finance, governance or assurance professional with a strong background in financial controls, risk management, audit or compliance.
You bring exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, coupled with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
Confident operating independently, you're committed to integrity, continuous improvement and helping organisations strengthen governance and financial management practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Council's Financial Management Assurance Program, providing independent assurance over financial governance, internal controls and legislative compliance
Provide expert advice and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Audit & Risk Committee on financial governance, compliance and assurance matters




Monitor and report on the implementation of audit recommendations, control improvements and organisational assurance activities
Drive continuous improvement in financial governance, policies, procedures, controls and risk management practices across Council
Skills and Experience
Demonstrated experience in financial governance, assurance, internal audit, risk management or financial controls within a complex organisation
Strong knowledge of financial management legislation, accounting standards, governance frameworks and assurance methodologies
Experience developing and implementing governance, assurance or control frameworks
Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
Ability to prepare high-level reports and provide advice to executive leadership and governance committees
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries
Experience interpreting complex legislation, policies and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in financial management systems and data analysis to support governance and decision-making
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and Current Zealand (CA ANZ) membership highly regarded
Professional certifications or memberships in governance, assurance or internal audit disciplines highly regarded
Experience in local government or the public sector is desirable
Current C Class driver licence
