The Opportunity:
Hunter New England LHD
is seeking
Senior Resident Medical Officers (SRMOs)
with
Emergency Medicine experience
to provide locum coverage across its regional and rural hospitals.
Take your ED skills to one of NSW's most diverse and rewarding health districts. Work with experienced teams, build procedural confidence, and enjoy full locum support in a lifestyle-friendly region. You'll work closely with Registrars, CMOs, and FACEMs, gaining excellent hands‐on experience in high‐acuity settings while supported by solid escalation pathways.
Clinical Environment:
Broad clinical exposure
– including trauma, cardiac, paediatrics, and mental health presentations
Supervised yet autonomous
– work independently with senior support available when needed
Procedural experience encouraged
– opportunity to assist or lead in airways, lines, and resus
Well-supported departments
– strong triage, nursing, and consultant structures across the district
Ideal training ground
– perfect for SRMOs preparing for ACEM, anaesthetics, or critical care pathways
Eligibility Criteria:




AHPRA General Registration
PGY3+ with
at least 6 months Emergency Medicine experience
NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
Willingness to complete onboarding and hospital credentialing
What's Provided:
Up to $200/hour
, depending on experience and responsibilities
Return travel, accommodation, and car hire included for eligible locums
Full locum booking, credentialing, and onboarding support
Flexible shifts across weekday, weekend, and night rosters
