About the role
Based out of the Wimmera Mallee Waste Management Portland depot, you will operate a side loader waste collection vehicle servicing communities throughout the Glenelg Shire.
Working an 8 day fortnight, you will be responsible for completing scheduled kerbside collections safely and efficiently while representing the business professionally within the local community.
Overtime opportunities are also available.
Your day to day responsibilities will include:
Operating a side loader waste collection vehicle safely and efficiently
Completing scheduled kerbside waste collections throughout the Glenelg Shire
Conducting daily vehicle safety checks
Reporting vehicle faults and maintenance requirements
Maintaining accurate collection records
Reporting service issues or customer concerns
Providing professional and courteous customer service
Following all workplace health and safety requirements
Assisting with basic vehicle maintenance including greasing and washing
Assisting with minor fault repairs where appropriate
Supporting other depot, administration or operational tasks depending on your skills and experience
This is a varied role that will suit someone who enjoys being out on the road, working independently and being part of a close working team.
About you
We're looking for someone who is reliable, safety conscious and takes pride in doing their job well.
To be considered, you will have:
A current HR licence or higher
Previous heavy vehicle driving experience
Strong safety awareness
Positive communication and customer service skills
A reliable and punctual approach to work
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
The physical fitness required to undertake regular manual handling tasks
A willingness to assist with general vehicle and depot duties
Previous waste collection experience would be advantageous but is not essential for the right person.
A police check and pre employment medical will be required as part of the recruitment process.
