Work within Launceston General Hospital's Perioperative Medicine team to optimise surgical outcomes through inpatient and preoperative care.
The Team
Launceston General Hospital is a tertiary hospital in Northern Tasmania servicing the north and north-west of the state.
All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Perioperative Medicine team includes a Perioperative Physician, Perioperative Registrar, and Perioperative CNCs who work closely together to provide shared care to surgical inpatients and outpatients.
The Role
Function at the level of a senior medical registrar, providing a consultative service to surgical inpatients and working closely with surgical teams and patients to optimise medical comorbidities, undertake detailed risk assessments, and support shared decision-making.
Assist in the High Risk Preoperative Clinic, assessing patients prior to major elective surgery alongside anaesthetist and physiotherapy colleagues.
Attend surgical Medical Emergency Team calls and liaise with the Intensive Care Unit team.
Participate in after-hours General Medicine rosters as required.
Assist with the supervision and education of junior medical staff within surgical units.
You will need
Collaborative approach and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Experience in relevant clinical areas such as General Medicine, Intensive Care, or Anaesthetics would be highly regarded.

Fixed term full time, day worker (with on-call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 1 February **** until 6 February ****.
You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.

Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11 $138,978 - $194,675 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

Over 2 years post-graduate clinical experience in related fields
Studying for or the possession of the relevant post-graduate qualifications.
The desire to specialise in a related specialty.
