About the role
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of short-term emergency accommodation, community connection and referral services.
Intake and Assessment Crisis Worker
We are seeking a dedicated
Intake and Assessment Crisis Worker
to provide support to individuals and families throughout Victoria who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a
casual
role that works on a 24/7 predominantly after hours roster, located in St Kilda, VIC.
Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with
SCHADS Award Level 5.
You will successfully
Provide, as part of a team, quality assessment, referral, and provision of housing information to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
Conduct service delivery that aligns with national and state strategic plans, and the National Homelessness Stream Model of Care
Support clients utilising a strengths-based, trauma informed and client centred approach
Develop support, action and/or safety plans to respond to the immediate needs, risk, or vulnerabilities of presenting clients and/or children
Assist clients with access to appropriate community supports and programs
Refer to support, emergency services or allied community services to adequately manage assessed client risk or identified need to maintain wellbeing and safety
You will have
A Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Community Development or a related field(minimum diploma)
Demonstrated experience in a social service environment, with a focus on homelessness
A current and valid
Employee Working with Children's Check
