Queensland Respiratory Services offers a full range of lung function and allergy testing across 15 locations in Queensland, backed by the largest private respiratory physician group in the state.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual willing to learn - experience is preferred but not necessary, as all training will be provided! This is a
part-time position
with a minimum of
3-4 days
per week.
The Wide Bay-Burnett region is a growing community that we support through our four respiratory testing labs situated in St Stephen's Hospital Hervey Bay, Main Street lab in Pialba, The Mater Hospital in Bundaberg, and the Friendlies Hospital in Bundaberg. The ideal candidate will be based in Hervey Bay, with the ability to travel to Bundaberg at least 1 day per week. This position will involve
performing pulmonary function testing on patients
across these three locations according to protocols outlined by ATS, ERS and TSANZ.
Tests include:
Spirometry and flow-volume loops
Gas Transfer factor
Body plethysmography
Respiratory muscle strength testing
6-minute walk testing (with & without O2)
Hypoxic Altitude Simulation Test (HAST)
FeNO
Any other test designated by the Senior or Chief Scientist
This is a clinical measurement's position working one-on-one with our patients to achieve accurate breathing measurements; therefore you must be
kind, caring and enthusiastic
to succeed in this role.
Role Responsibilities
KEY TASKS: Produce accurate and prompt reports on pulmonary function tests and maintain a qualified standard of record-keeping for such tests.
Operate and maintain equipment within the laboratory according to the laboratory and manufacturer's established procedures. This includes:
Calibration
Quality control
Preventative maintenance
Basic troubleshooting procedures
Infection control / cleaning
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act professionally in conduct, presentation and punctuality.




Comply with safety and infection control policies of the laboratory.
Learn technical and troubleshooting methods.
Attend relevant meetings online and face-to-face team days
Assist in managing the laboratory by making appointments for tests, ordering consumables, and general office duties and procedures as required.
Perform patient billing and processing Medicare rebates through Health Track software.
Maintain equipment, consumables, report statistics and QC records.
Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure the quality of patient care.
Ensure accurate recording of kilometers on the company car or personal car used on company business.
Work with other staff members to promote respect and a positive workplace.

Role Requirements
The successful applicant must hold a minimum of a
bachelor's degree
in clinical measurements, applied science, biomedical science, exercise science, science, human movements, or of a similar clinical nature.
Current First Aid Certificate
Available Monday to Friday during business hours (Part-time role with a minimum of 3-4 days a week).
Experience in this field is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided
Driver's license and own transport is essential for this role
