Advanced Trainee Registrar – Emergency Medicine (Full-Time, Fixed Term)
We are seeking motivated Advanced Trainee Registrars in Emergency Medicine to join our dynamic Emergency Department team at St John Geelong Hospital on a full‐time, fixed‐term basis.
Positions are available for Semester One **** (commencing February ****) and Semester Two **** (commencing August ****).
Our Emergency Department serves over 17,000 patients per year, including approximately 15% paediatric presentations and 25% admissions.
The department includes a 12‐bed ICU, 16‐bed CCU, Special Care Nursery and 13 theatres.
Eligibility
Current ACEM trainee (T2 or T3 level)
Hold registration with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM)
ACEM‐accredited for up to 6 months advanced training in ED (linked with University Hospital Geelong)
Responsibilities
Manage Emergency Department patients under the direction of Emergency Medicine Consultants
Support FACEM‐lead team‐based care and work with hospital nursing staff to facilitate patient management (e.g., completion of pathology requests, booking radiology, reviewing results, and following up abnormal results)
Carry out procedures within capabilities and experience
Communicate and liaise with General Practitioners, Consultants and Specialists as appropriate
Document findings in the patient's medical record and complete all related documentation
Develop strong collegiate relationships with other managers and maintain effective networks and relationships with all skilled groups both within and external to the organisation to support service‐related improvements
Participate in after‐hours and weekend rosters
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
Demonstrated knowledge in clinical and procedural experience in an equivalent ED setting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
