JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the Rapid Access Clinic and Urgent Care Service plays a pivotal role in delivering timely assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients presenting with Triage Category 3 and 4 conditions.
Referrals are received from a variety of sources, including General Practitioners, community-based health services, pharmacists, NSW Ambulance, Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs), outpatient clinics, and the Emergency Department.
Working autonomously within their endorsed scope of practice and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, the NP provides advanced clinical care for a wide range of presentations, including minor orthopaedic injuries, musculoskeletal conditions, soft tissue injuries, lacerations, wounds, respiratory and urinary tract illnesses, and other low to moderate acuity conditions.
The NP is authorised to order, interpret and action diagnostic investigations, including pathology and medical imaging, prescribe medications,
perform procedures such as suturing and wound closure, apply and manage plaster casts and immobilisation devices, provide complex wound care, and coordinate specialist referrals and follow-up care.
Through advanced clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice, the Nurse Practitioner enhances access to care, reduces unnecessary Emergency Department presentations and hospital admissions, and supports the delivery of the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) within the Rapid Access Clinic and Urgent Care Service you will be responsible for:
Provide autonomous, advanced clinical care within an agreed scope of practice.
Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose, prescribe and manage patient care.
Deliver evidence-based care and respond to clinical emergencies and deteriorating patient
Provide clinical leadership, consultation, collaboration and appropriate referrals.
Lead quality improvement, research, policy and guideline development.
Supervise, mentor and support the development of nursing staff.
Maintain a clinical learning and development plan to expand scope of practice.
Ensure compliance with NSW legislation, NSW Health policies and National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.

About the Candidate
Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse / Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with equivalent of three years fulltime experience in an advanced nursing role.
Authority to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
An ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team and across acute and community settings.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with proven interpersonal and negotiation skills, inclusive of highly developed skills in computer literacy with word processing and database programs.
An ability to provide leadership along with extensive expertise in teaching and education and evidence of participation in research and quality activities.
Evidence of a current Class C drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
