Corrections Education Centre
is a key portfolio of Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI), delivering high-quality education programs to people in custody in partnership with Corrections Victoria and private prison operators. Through strong collaboration with multiple custodial sites, we play a vital role in supporting rehabilitation by building skills, confidence and meaningful pathways for reintegration into the community.
Learning delivery is adapted to the custodial context, with paper-based delivery and controlled classroom settings. Our educators work directly with individuals, often navigating diverse learning needs. About the Role:
Location: Melbourne Remand Centre, onsite
Role Type: Part time (0.6 FTE) ongoing, flexible with days
Remuneration: starting at $ 94, ****** inclusive of 12% super pro-rata (dependent on qualifications)
We are looking for a
Teacher Mumgu-dhal tyama-tiyt
to make a meaningful impact to support individuals with diverse learning needs. This role requires a confident, self-sufficient educator who can thrive in a highly independent teaching environment. You will be delivering Cert II Mumgu-dhal to learners.
Working as part of collaborative team, you will primarily operate independently, with the autonomy to manage your own classes and schedule. The role involves a mix of one-on-one support and small group facilitation,



requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage learners at varying levels.
We are seeking someone with previous experience working in corrections who understands the environment and can navigate it with professionalism, resilience, and flexibility. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with minimal supervision and confident in creating a structured, supportive learning experience for students.
We are excited about you because you have:
Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contemporary issues
Demonstrated experience working with Koorie communities or in culturally inclusive settings (education settings preferable)
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
Experience delivering training in adult education or vocational settings
Effective communication skills for working in correctional settings
Computer proficiency
Compliance paperwork management
Ability to teach independently
