This is an opportunity to lead a complex, high-profile transformation program at the intersection of data, technology, policy and operations. This role will lead delivery of Tasmania's Waste Data Strategy *********, turning strategic commitments into practical outcomes that improve how waste and resource recovery data is collected, managed and used across the State. The work will support better investment decisions, stronger reporting, improved transparency and delivery of Tasmania's Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
In this role, you will:
Provide strategic project leadership, including the management of complex implementation activities.
Deliver high-level advice, briefings and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
Build capability, support change management initiatives and promote the adoption of improved data practices.
Liaise and collaborate with government, industry and key stakeholders to support the coordinated implementation of the Strategy.
Monitor delivery progress, evaluate outcomes and drive continuous improvement to enhance waste reporting, resource recovery outcomes and evidence-based policy development.
This is a fixed-term opportunity for 2 years, working ***** hours per fortnight, based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport.
Our ideal candidate has
Experience leading complex projects and delivering strategic outcomes in data, technology, business improvement or public sector environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide authoritative advice, build collaborative relationships and represent the Department effectively.
Highly developed analytical,



research and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to evaluate complex issues and develop practical, innovative solutions.
Proven ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, coordinate team outputs and deliver high-quality results within agreed timeframes, particularly in a dynamic and changing environment.
Relevant qualifications and/or experience in waste and resource recovery, data governance, digital transformation or related fields.
