About This Position
You already know the frustration of selling something you can't fully explain.
You're talking to engineers, project managers and procurement teams who know the product inside out — and customers can tell.
This role is different.
You'll represent specialist electrical switchgear used by electricity utilities, contractors and infrastructure organisations across Australia and New Zealand.
Whether you've built your career in technical sales, or you're an engineer, estimator or technical support specialist looking to move into a customer-facing role, success here comes from the same instinct: customers trust people who actually understand what they're buying.
Rather than simply selling products, you'll work closely with Engineering, Production and Logistics to deliver practical solutions and build long-term customer relationships.
If you'd rather become a trusted advisor than chase one-off transactions, keep reading.
What You'll Be Doing
Managing relationships with electricity utilities, contractors and distributors across Australia and New Zealand
Identifying and developing current business opportunities
Preparing quotations, commercial proposals and tender submissions
Delivering technical product presentations and demonstrations
Providing technical and commercial support throughout the sales process
Working closely with Engineering, Production and Logistics on project delivery
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems for customers rather than simply selling products.
Ideally you'll bring:
Experience in technical sales, account management or business development — or an engineering, technical support or estimating background looking to move into sales
Experience within electrical infrastructure, utilities, industrial manufacturing or another technical B2B environment
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Commercial awareness and confidence working with engineers and decision makers
A current Australian Driver's Licence
An engineering qualification is highly regarded but not essential.
Just as important, the hiring team is looking for someone who asks good questions before offering solutions, listens carefully and follows through on commitments, works independently without needing constant direction, builds trust naturally with customers and colleagues, and enjoys being part of a small, collaborative team.
Technical product knowledge can be developed.
These qualities are much harder to teach.
Backgrounds that tend to fit:
Electrical Distribution
Power Utilities
Electrical Engineering
Industrial Automation
Switchgear & Protection Systems
Transformers & Power Equipment
Renewable Energy Infrastructure
Industrial Manufacturing
Capital Equipment
Technical B2B Sales
What's On Offer
$90,000–$95,000 + Superannuation (base salary — no commission)
Stable full-time permanent position
Ongoing technical and product training
Long-term career development within a respected Australian manufacturer
A small, collaborative team with hands-on support from experienced Engineering, Production and Logistics colleagues
Why This Role Stands Out
This isn't a high-pressure commission sales role — there is no commission structure here.
It's an opportunity to build a long-term career where technical understanding, credibility and customer relationships matter far more than aggressive selling.
If you've been looking for a position where your technical background will actually be valued — and where you can grow into a trusted advisor for your customers — this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
Worth Knowing Before You Apply
Regular interstate travel is an essential part of this position. There's no fixed schedule, but it happens often, and it's not optional. If travel isn't something you can realistically build your lifestyle around, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.
Working hours are
Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
.
For the first 12 months, regular onsite attendance is preferred so you can build product knowledge and establish strong working relationships across Engineering, Production and Logistics.
