Overview: Full-time , Fixed Term position for 4 Years.
Salary Academic Level B + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University About The Position: The Research Fellow will lead and contribute to high-quality research within the Technology Adoption and Social Change (TASC) program of the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub for In telligent Contaminant-Sensing in Complex Environments (IC- SensE ) .
Th e TASC program explores consumer and workforce adoption of sensor technologies from a human- centred perspective using social research methodologies .
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary researchers and industry partners, the role will examine areas such as socially responsible design, user experience, data security, trustworthy data representation and AI-enabled work practices.
The Research Fellow will sit in the School of Global, Urban, and Social Studies in RMIT's College of Design and Social Context , with an affiliation to RMIT's Centre for Human-AI Information Environments.
The successful candidate will develop productive research networks, apply for research funding , produce high-quality outputs , and translate findings into accessible, actionable outcomes that deliver economic, environmental and societal impact.
Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in a relevant social sciences research field To be successful in this position, you'll have : Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs that will contribute to existing high performing RMIT research teams, evidenced by such things as publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and contributions to policy and practice.
Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting qualitative research, with a focus on interdisciplinarity and social sciences methodologies aligned to the IC- SensE Hub.
Demonstrated experience with social research methodologies, including qualitative, participatory, and/or mixed methods approaches.
Experience in engaging with industry, government,



or community on collaborative research projects and/or research translation activities to foster societal impact.
Ability to work independently whilst also leading teams and working collaboratively across different disciplines.
Experience in applying for competitive funding and successfully managing research projects.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on scholarly communication practices, including demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry, community, and government stakeholders, and engage, collaborate with and/or supervise higher degree by research candidates.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
About IC- SensE Awarded $4.75M funding in the **** round of the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Program scheme, IC- SensE is focused on delivering human-focused sensing technologies integrated with AI, for real-time assessment of contaminants, predicting potential hazards before they occur.
The Hub aims to ensure research projects create value and benefit for IC- SensE partner universities and industry partners and, in doing so, create impact for the economy, environment, and society.
IC- SensE brings together world class researchers from Australian and international universities, working together with industry leaders from the fields of health and medical devices, AI, environmental and energy, software development, and defence .
The TASC team examines the human and social implications of sensing technologies across these varied contexts.
IC- SensE researchers come from Engineering, Computer Science, Health, Built Environment and Social Science.




The TASC team is led by social scientists who work across these disciplines to examin e workplace and consumer experiences of technology adoption.
