About the role
We are seeking an experienced
Head Chef
to lead our culinary operations at Winter's Cafe in Geelong VIC ****.
This is a
full-time position
that plays a vital role in shaping our kitchen culture, maintaining our culinary standards, and driving menu innovation.
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food production, ensuring consistency in quality, managing kitchen staff, and contributing to the overall success and reputation of our establishment.
This role reports directly to management and is integral to the delivery of our hospitality vision.
Key responsibilities
Leading, training, and motivating the kitchen team to maintain the highest standards of food preparation and presentation
Developing and implementing menus that reflect seasonal availability and customer preferences whilst maintaining cost-effectiveness
Ensuring all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment
Managing food inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs to support profitability
Maintaining quality control standards and ensuring consistency in all dishes served
Collaborating with management on business decisions, including menu pricing and promotional offerings
Overseeing kitchen operations during service, including timing, plating, and delivery of dishes
Creating innovative dishes and regularly updating the menu to keep offerings fresh and engaging




Maintaining compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations
What we're looking for
Extensive experience working as a Head Chef or Senior Chef within a busy hospitality environment
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and diverse cuisine styles
Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop kitchen staff
Excellent organisational and time management abilities, particularly under pressure during service periods
Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and relevant regulations
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house and management teams
Creative flair and passion for menu development and culinary innovation
Financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and inventory management
Formal culinary qualifications or equivalent practical experience in professional kitchens
Experience managing kitchen operations and stock control is highly desirable
