About the Role
The Grampians Public Health Unit (GPHU) is seeking a Public Health Medicine Registrar to join our team.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Unit's health protection, disease prevention and health promotion functions while gaining experience and skills in public health medicine practice.
As a registrar you will learn about clinical leadership & development and core public health medicine competencies while working with GPHU staff specialists and other highly qualified professionals.
Training will include opportunities to focus in one or more of the GPHU's pillars covering the breadth of public health practice:
Health protection
Health promotion and disease prevention
Population health and its social and other determinants
Key Responsibilities (to be completed under supervision)
Learn about and support emergency management activities as required and assist in the response to public health incidents and emergencies
Undertake research in public health and epidemiology, population health, communicable diseases and infection control
Participate in the GPHU on‐call roster as required
Apply expertise in risk‐informed situation analysis and make appropriate decisions in a timely manner to ensure the needs of patients, staff, organisation and community are met
As needed, participate in training and supervision of registrars, other staff and students
Skills & Experience
General registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Master's degree in public health (or equivalent or higher qualification)
Eligible for (or currently undertaking) advanced training with the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM)
