Join the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) Data team as a Sr. Go-To-Market (GTM) Specialist for Database, based in Sydney and focused on data foundations across ANZ.
This role drives the AWS database and data-foundations go-to-market across ANZ, owning the strategy and execution that helps customers optimise their existing database estate and modernise it to be ready for AI and agentic workloads. Data is the context layer that turns generic AI into personalised, differentiated customer experiences; every AI conversation is a data conversation, and this role sits at the centre of it. You will drive the migration of on-premises SQL Server and Oracle estates to AWS managed databases, position AWS's purpose-built database portfolio, and ensure customers' data foundations are cloud-native, resilient, and AI-ready. You will work on ANZ's largest customers and deals, partnering with migrations, account, and partner teams to land complex, multi-year outcomes. You are accountable for the growth of the ANZ database business, measured by pipeline and revenue influenced. You will also be the voice of ANZ back to the service team, carrying customer needs to our database service teams to help reshape service and roadmap strategy.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the GTM strategy and execution for AWS Database and data foundations across ANZ including messaging, positioning, and campaigns across all segments.
- Serve as the ANZ point of contact for database and data-foundation motions, the connective tissue between Specialist SAs, Partner teams, and the area sales teams carrying database quota.
- Win large migrations to AWS, migrate on-premises commercial database estates to AWS managed, purpose-built databases, getting data foundations AI/agentic-ready.
- Lead engagement on ANZ's largest, most strategic deals, partnering with migrations, commercial/deal, and partner teams to accelerate and close complex, multi-year opportunities.
- Be the voice of ANZ to the database service teams feeding customer needs, adoption signals, and competitive gaps back to product leadership.
- Engage at CxO/VP level and with developers and architects to build pipeline and drive revenue across 15+ AWS database services.
A day in the life
You are the person the ANZ field, partners, and customers come to for anything database and data foundations. One day you're in a CxO briefing making the case to migrate a legacy Oracle estate to Aurora ahead of an AI initiative; the next you're enabling an ANZ area sales team on a large migration, unblocking a stalled deal with the right partner funding lever, or feeding ANZ customer signal back to the service team to shape the roadmap. You operate across ANZ and every segment, building the strategy and executing it measured by the growth of the ANZ database business, not a personal quota

The WWSO Data team helps customers adopt our newest and most advantageous technologies. We are technology specialists. This role sits on the APJ Data GTM team as the ANZ database and data-foundations lead, working as an integrated unit with account teams, Specialist SAs, and partner teams. Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of Go-To-Market, Business Development, Sales, or Consulting experience
- Experience working with, presenting to, and negotiating with C-level executives, IT, lines of business, procurement, finance, legal and internal stakeholders for sizeable commercial/enterprise deals
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of technology domain experience in database management systems, relational databases, NoSQL databases, data warehouse solutions, and large-scale database workloads.
- Experience with database migration and modernisation motions (e.g. migrating commercial databases such as SQL Server and Oracle to cloud-native / managed database services).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- Experience engaging with customer relationships at the CXO level
- Cloud Technology Certification (such as Solutions Architecture, Cloud Security Professional or Cloud DevOps Engineering)
- Master's degree, or MBA in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
- Experience managing multiple internal stakeholders and advising cross-functional teams
- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps influencing internal and external stakeholders
- Experience owning end-to-end GTM strategy for a technology domain across a market or geography.
- Experience positioning data foundations for AI/ML and agentic workloads (data readiness, modernisation, purpose-built databases as the context layer for AI).
- Familiarity with the database landscape (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and cloud data platforms).
- Robust data-based storytelling skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with both executives and developers.
