Ayan Infotech has multiple ICT Data Opportunities for full-time permanent job opportunities in Melbourne.

Titles: Data Engineer, Senior Data Modeller and Senior Data Analyst
Location: Melbourne (Data Engineer can be performed from Melbourne or Sydney, other two roles - Melbourne only)

Required Skills and Experience:
Data Engineer (Sydney or Melbourne):
- 5 or more years of overal ICT experience with focus on below:
- Must have strong working experience with Azure Databricks , PySpark Notebooks , Spark SQL and Unity Catalog.
- Must have strong working experience with Spark Structured Streaming.
- Need to have good Data Modelling experience with strong SQL knowledge.
- Optional: Experience in Power BI development.
Senior Data Modeller (Melbourne, Hybrid only):
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with 8+ years of experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale data models. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in dimensional and relational data modeling, data warehousing, SQL, and metadata management. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders, architects, analysts, and development teams to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient data structures that enable analytics and operational reporting.
- 8+ years of experience in Data Modeling, Data Architecture, or related roles.
- Robust expertise in Dimensional Modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) and Relational Data Modeling.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin, PowerDesigner, ER/Studio, or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, database design, and query optimization.
- In-depth understanding of Data Warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration concepts.
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise databases and cloud data platforms.
- Ability to create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, lineage documentation, and model diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex data concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Senior Data Analyst (Melbourne - Hybrid only)
- Work with business stakeholders, business analysts and subject matter experts to understand project objectives, processes, data needs and acceptance criteria.
- Profile and analyse source data to assess structure, meaning, relationships, completeness, quality and suitability for the proposed solution.
- Translate business requirements into detailed data requirements, business rules, data definitions, source-to-target mappings and transformation specifications.
- Collaborate with solution designers, data architects and developers to shape feasible data solutions and clarify requirements throughout design and build.
- Identify data gaps, anomalies, dependencies and risks early, recommend resolution options and support timely project decisions and escalation.
- Define data quality, reconciliation and validation rules, and prepare expected results to support developer testing, system testing and business acceptance.
- Review developed solutions against approved requirements and mappings, investigate variances and support defect analysis and resolution.
- Maintain explicit project artefacts, including data dictionaries, mapping documents, lineage, decision records, assumptions and traceability from requirements to implementation.
- Ensure proposed solutions comply with data governance, privacy, security, retention and regulatory requirements.
- Provide analytical guidance and support across the project lifecycle, from discovery and design through build, testing, implementation and transition to support.
- Bachelor's degree in data analytics, computer science, information systems, statistics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 5-8 years of experience in data analysis, including substantial experience supporting technology, data integration, migration, reporting or platform projects.
- Advanced SQL and data-profiling skills, with the ability to interrogate large datasets, validate assumptions and explain findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience producing data requirements, source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, data dictionaries, reconciliation logic and traceability documentation.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, integration patterns, metadata, lineage, data quality and governance principles.
- Experience with cloud data platforms and warehouses, preferably GCP and BigQuery; familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, Python or data integration tools is desirable.
- Proven ability to work closely with solution designers, architects, developers, testers and business stakeholders in Agile or hybrid project delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to identify data risks and dependencies early.
- Effective facilitation, documentation and communication skills, including the ability to convert complex business needs into precise technical information.
- Collaborative, delivery-focused and adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities, resolve ambiguity and support project teams through the full solution lifecycle.
