We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Workshop Supervisor to lead a busy mechanical workshop supporting plant, machinery, vehicles and operational equipment across multiple sites.
This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified mechanic who enjoys variety, problem-solving and leading a team. You’ll be responsible for keeping critical equipment safe, reliable and operational while coordinating day-to-day workshop activities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise workshop and mechanical maintenance activities.
- Service, diagnose and repair diesel and petrol engines, plant, machinery and vehicles.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, transmission, pneumatic and electronic systems.
- Interpret technical manuals and identify appropriate repair solutions.
- Manage workshop stores, stock, spare parts and material requirements.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs with operational and trades teams.
- Oversee preventative maintenance and accurate equipment/service records.
- Coordinate mechanical support for operational and event requirements.
- Maintain workshop safety, housekeeping and compliance with relevant WH&S; requirements.
- Contribute to broader maintenance activities and continuous improvement.
About you
You will ideally have:
- Relevant mechanical trade qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience in diesel, plant and vehicle maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with hydraulics, transmissions and mechanical systems.
- Previous workshop supervision or team leadership experience.
- Strong organisation and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A solid commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Experience in racing, events, facilities or similar operational environments will be highly regarded.
