TAS Assistant – Food Technology & Textiles
Part-Time | Term Time Only | Permanent | Commencing ASAP
18 hours per week (to be worked flexibly based on class requirements)

At MLC School, we are committed to educating and inspiring young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion. We are seeking a highly organised and proactive TAS Assistant – Food Technology & Textiles to support our vibrant TAS Department in the Senior School.
About the Role
This is a hands-on support role that provides exceptional service to teachers and students by ensuring Food Technology and Textiles practical lessons are prepared, resourced, and ready for learning. The successful candidate will assist with stock management, ordering, purchasing, equipment maintenance, food preparation support, and the day-to-day organisation of TAS learning spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, order and maintain food ingredients, textiles materials, equipment and resources.
- Prepare practical learning spaces and ensure lessons are appropriately resourced.
- Manage stock levels, receive deliveries and maintain accurate records.
- Support food handling and storage processes in line with school procedures.
- Maintain clean, safe and organised kitchens, preparation rooms and textiles areas.
- Coordinate routine servicing and report faulty equipment.
- Support teachers and students to ensure practical classes run efficiently and effectively.
About You
You will be a practical, organised and customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a collaborative school environment.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in food handling, kitchens or a related workplace.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Certificate in Food Handling and Safety or relevant kitchen experience.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Experience with textiles resources and equipment, including sewing machines and overlockers.
- Current First Aid qualifications.
- An ability to use a range of software applications to complete set tasks
