About the role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved in all stages of a turbomachinery mechanical systems project: from its design and conception through to its commissioning. This includes specification, planning and execution, testing, and site commissioning. You may also be asked to handle special projects, such as research, management and/or quality control.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product
- Analyse customer problems and collect product and technical information and report issues as well as contractual troubles on each assignment
- Carry out engine product troubleshooting, routine maintenance and components investigation on all Turbomachinery and non-Turbo products
- Direct the assigned labour force and ensure that equipment is built to the required standards and procedures relating to installation, commissioning, start-up, and repair or maintenance work
- Advise the customer on operating and maintenance procedures to include parts stocking and overhaul programs to minimise equipment downtime
- Monitor engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices; participate in quality improvement initiatives and projects
- Comprehensive report writing covering site activities, findings and recommendations to achieve optimum quality and maintain good rapport with customers
- Identify sales opportunities while in contact with the customer and direct sales opportunities to the Sales Coordinator
- Ensure all activities undertaken by employees and subcontractors are carried out in accordance with the Company ACTIVE SAFE Policy and Procedures
- Apply QSE principles in day-to-day work activities in accordance with the company's QSE management system
About you
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical qualifications in electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent experience/education
- Extensive experience working on Rotating Equipment with a focus on Turbomachinery (Compressors, turbines, gearboxes, pumps and centrifuges)
- Hands-on experience in installing, troubleshooting and maintaining Dry Gas Seals
- Experience in turbomachinery system (gas compressors, electrical generators, and pumps)
- Robust mechanical and thermodynamic aptitude for rotating machinery and commercial aptitude
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to develop positive relationships with peers, contractors, managers, and customers
- Experience in troubleshooting plant
- Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, and project management skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel
