Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive, field-focused environmental professional to join our team, working at the forefront of renewable energy infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand.
This is a hands-on, site-based role supporting project teams to implement environmental and sustainability requirements, manage environmental risks and ensure compliance with legislation, approvals, management plans and AEC HSE standards.
Working under the direction of the Group Head HSES and wider HSE team, you will provide practical environmental support across project and construction teams with a view to building our Environmental capability at AEC.
Location: Maryborough, QLD
Roster: 2:1 FIFO / DIDO
Contract: 12-month fixed term
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Compliance & Field Support
- Implement and monitor environmental plans, permits, approvals and compliance requirements.
- Provide practical environmental and sustainability advice to project and site teams.
- Conduct environmental inspections, monitoring and audits to verify controls are effective.
- Maintain environmental records and support client and regulatory reporting.
Risk, Incidents & Training
- Identify environmental risks,
implement corrective actions and support incident investigations and close-out.
- Support environmental risk assessments, SWMS and management of unexpected environmental finds, including contaminated land, acid sulphate soils and cultural heritage material
- Deliver environmental inductions, toolbox talks and site awareness initiatives.
- Promote environmental accountability and build environmental capability across site teams.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Work with Project Managers, Supervisors and HSE teams to improve environmental and sustainability performance.
- Support environmental data collection, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Share environmental learnings and best practice across projects.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
- 5 years + experience in environmental or sustainability roles, ideally within construction, renewables, civil or infrastructure.
- Formal qualifications in environment, sustainability or a related discipline highly regarded.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, ISO 14001 and industry requirements.
- Experience with environmental inspections, monitoring, risk assessments and incident reporting.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and organisational skills.
- Competent with environmental reporting systems and digital documentation.
- White Card and open Driver’s Licence required.
- Ability to meet site medical and fitness requirements.
- Eligible to work in Australia and/or New Zealand.
