NOW Energy is seeking 2 experienced EHS / Safety Managers for long-term contract opportunities supporting a major Sydney data centre construction project.
These are senior client-side safety positions suited to experienced construction safety professionals capable of working across complex, high-risk construction environments.

- Approx. 40 hours per week

The Role
Acting as a senior EHS subject matter expert, you will work collaboratively with the project team, General Contractor and subcontractors to drive high standards of safety, risk management and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and managing high-risk construction activities
- Working with the General Contractor and subcontractors on forward safety planning
- Conducting independent site safety audits and inspections
- Reviewing RAMS, safe work plans, lifting plans and contractor methodologies
- Monitoring project safety KPIs and compliance
- Undertaking risk assessments and recommending appropriate controls
- Investigating incidents, accidents and near misses
- Monitoring corrective and preventative actions
- Assessing contractor competency and safety performance
- Supporting site meetings, daily activity briefings and management reviews
- Developing EHS reporting and communication structures
- Driving continuous improvement and positive safety behaviours
- Liaising with client representatives on safety, governance and risk
The position operates as a client-side advisory and assurance role, working collaboratively with the main contractor while maintaining independent oversight of project safety performance.
About You
We are looking for experienced construction safety professionals with a proven ability to operate in major and technically complex project environments.
Ideally, you will have:
- Significant EHS / WHS experience within major construction
- Data centre or mission-critical construction experience highly regarded
- Experience on major electrical, mechanical, industrial or infrastructure projects also relevant
- Strong contractor and subcontractor management experience
- Experience auditing complex construction activities
- Strong knowledge of construction risk management and high-risk activities
- Incident investigation and corrective-action experience
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and influence project teams
- Strong leadership and coaching capability
You should be comfortable working in a quick-paced construction environment and capable of engaging effectively with everyone from site personnel and subcontractors through to senior client and contractor management.
