Talent Scout Consulting is partnering with a rapidly growing Australian engineering and manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer for their Newcastle-based engineering team.

Operating within the power and critical infrastructure space, our client designs and manufactures specialised, engineered solutions for major projects and customers across Australia. With continued growth, an expanding manufacturing footprint and a strong pipeline of work, they're looking to add another Electrical Engineer to their multidisciplinary team.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being involved in more than just one piece of the puzzle.

You'll work across the full product lifecycle – from R&D; and initial design through to manufacture, testing, installation and final commissioning. With manufacturing undertaken locally, you'll also have the benefit of seeing your designs come to life and working closely with the people actually building them.

The role
Working closely with the Engineering Manager, fellow engineers, project teams and workshop personnel, your responsibilities will include:

- Electrical design and development across new and existing products
- Working across the full lifecycle from concept and R&D; through to manufacture and implementation
- Designing electrical systems and components to meet project and customer requirements
- Developing and evaluating electrical designs
- Identifying design issues and developing practical engineering solutions
- Conducting testing and evaluation to improve product performance and reliability

- Modifying designs to meet changing requirements or resolve technical issues
- Electrical analysis including load flow, fault analysis and protection coordination
- Preparing technical documentation, drawings and information for production
- Supporting commissioning, testing and troubleshooting
- Working closely with the manufacturing team throughout the build process
- Assisting with project scope and budget estimates
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders as required

About you
We're looking for an Electrical Engineer with a robust practical approach to engineering and the ability to work effectively across both design and manufacturing environments.
Ideally, you'll bring:

- A Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Previous electrical engineering experience within power generation, industrial, construction, energy or a related environment
- Strong knowledge of power systems, control systems and electrical distribution
- Experience with equipment such as switchboards, generators, PLCs and associated electrical systems
- Knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant electrical regulatory requirements
- Experience with electrical design,

analysis and/or simulation software such as ETAP, SKM, MATLAB/Simulink or similar
- Familiarity with electrical drafting/design packages such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar
- Understanding of circuit theory, instrumentation and protection systems
- Experience with commissioning, testing and troubleshooting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with engineers, trades, customers and other stakeholders
- A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail

You don't necessarily need to tick every box. We're particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have a solid electrical foundation, enjoy solving technical problems and want to be closer to the complete design-and-build process.

Why consider this opportunity?
This business is in a genuine growth phase, with an expanding engineering team, additional manufacturing capacity and an interesting pipeline of work.
Rather than sitting purely behind a desk producing designs, you'll have the opportunity to follow your work from concept through to a finished, operating product.

You'll join a multidisciplinary team where engineering, projects and manufacturing work closely together, giving you exposure across the broader delivery process and plenty of scope to continue developing technically as the business grows.

If you're an Electrical Engineer looking for a role where you can get closer to the product, manufacturing and final outcome, we'd love to hear from you.
