About the role
Based in our North Melbourne Animal Hospital, as an ACA you will be working with a team of veterinarians and nurses to ensure high standards of patient care and cleanliness are maintained. Your days will be varied but some of your regular duties will include:
- Animal husbandry including hygiene and cleaning, feeding, grooming and enrichment
- Daily walks for patients in our care
- Assisting with animal handling during veterinary examinations and procedures
- Restocking bedding, towels and medical supplies, preparing wards for incoming animals
- Patient record keeping, reporting and daily checks
About You
You’re someone who consistently shows up with a positive attitude because you love working with animals. You’re committed to delivering reliable and timely patient and customer care. You are confident and have experience handling sick or injured patients.
You roll up your sleeves to support the team, and able use your own judgement to monitor the wellbeing and welfare of the animals in your care. You communicate clearly and respectfully, with a strong desire to learn.
You’ll have
- 1-year minimum experience in an animal husbandry role such as a veterinary clinic, doggy day care or boarding facility
- Flexibility to work a variety of weekday day, evening and weekend shifts, including some public holidays
- Planned commencement or currently studying Cert IV Veterinary Nursing or Certificate II in Animal Care will be highly regarded
- A level of physical fitness to undertake the duties of the role, including regular cleaning, handling and lifting animals
