Disability Support Workers – Complex Needs (Ocean Shores - Lismore and Far North Coast)

Sunnysights Independent Living is a leader in professional in-home support services for NDIS participants with complex behavioural and clinical needs. Our talented and dedicated team delivers exceptional care through patience, respect, and understanding—tailored to each participant's unique goals and interests.

We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers within the Lismore and Far North Coast region (Ocean Shores) to join our growing team. In this role, you will work with participants who may present with complex behaviours, including verbal and physical escalations, implementing structured supports in line with their Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants with complex needs, including assistance with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, hygiene, and household tasks.

- Implement and follow individualised Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) to proactively manage and respond to behaviours of concern.

- Support participants who may display challenging behaviours, including physical and verbal escalations, using trauma-informed and safe practices.

- Maintain detailed and accurate progress notes, incident reports, and documentation.

- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support client goals and build independence.

- Build solid, respectful relationships with participants, families, and stakeholders.

- Ensure compliance with NDIS Practice Standards,



Sunnysights policies, and relevant legislative frameworks.

About You:

- Minimum 2 years' experience in the disability sector, specifically supporting clients with complex behaviours and high support needs.

- Strong understanding and experience in implementing PBSPs and working alongside behaviour support practitioners.

- Confidence in managing challenging environments and de-escalating physical and verbal incidents.

- Excellent communication, emotional regulation, and team collaboration skills.

- Committed, adaptable, and resilient with a calm and client-focused approach

Essential Qualifications & Requirements:

- Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours and mental health comorbidities.

- CPI, MAYBO or other behaviour management training (highly regarded).

- Behaviour management training is required before commencing employment.

- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.

- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check

- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance.

- Certificate III (or higher) in Disability, Community Services, or a related field (or currently completing).

- High-performing candidates will be offered a permanent contract within 3 months.
