About the Barkly Region:
The Barkly Region covers more than 320,000 km2 stretching from the old Telegraph Station at Barrow Creek in the south to the historical droving township of Newcastle Waters in the north. Located approximately 1000km south of Darwin and 500km north of Alice Springs. Tennant Creek has a population of 3,252 and is the largest town in the region.

About the Role:
Barkly Regional Council is seeking a Project Coordinator who will support the Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and managing Council projects across the Barkly Region. Responsibilities include procurement, liaising with contractors, overseeing asset maintenance, and supporting fleet management. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulations.
This position is based in Tennant Creek; however, some travel across the Barkly region may be required from time to time to support staff coverage or provide training to other team members. Overnight stays may occasionally be necessary.
The Essentials:
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers in the construction, infrastructure, or local government sectors in the Northern Territory preferably.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and / or contract management or the ability to learn.
- Understanding of asset management and maintenance practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in project management software and / or Microsoft Office Suite.
- National Criminal History Check.
- Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card – Northern Territory).
- VTP414 4WD Operations on Unsealed Roads Course.
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card).

- Full-Time – Permanent position paying an annual salary of $100,405.65, above award and EA rates – Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2024.
