About the role

BALCOMBE ENGINEERING Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced CNC Operator / Programmer to join our team in Hallam, Victoria.

This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to work with precision machinery and contribute to the production of high-quality flange related components. You will play a vital role in our manufacturing operations, ensuring that our CNC machines are operated efficiently and that all programmes are optimised to meet our quality standards and production schedules. This position is based on-site at our Hallam facility.

Key responsibilities

- Operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, and turning centres) to manufacture precision components according to technical specifications and drawings

- Develop, create and test CNC programmes using CAM software and manual programming techniques

- Set up and configure CNC machines, including tool changers, fixtures and work-holding devices

- Monitor machine operations to ensure components meet dimensional accuracy, surface finish and quality requirements

- Perform routine maintenance, tool changes and adjustments to optimise machine performance

- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometres and gauges

- Troubleshoot and resolve programming and machine-related issues to minimise downtime

- Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine parameters and quality data

- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers and other team members to improve processes and meet production targets

- Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment

What we're looking for

- Proven experience operating CNC machines, with proficiency in multiple machine types (mills, lathes, turning centres)

- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code

- Experience with CAM software packages and the ability to write or modify programmes to optimise production

- Sound understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.





- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and quality control practices

- Competency in machine setup, tool management and routine maintenance procedures

- Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and programming issues independently

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- Relevant qualifications or certifications in CNC machining, engineering or a related trade (preferred)
