Senior Financial Accountant - Reporting & Transformation

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant – Reporting and Transformation to play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting finance transformation, and improving automation, compliance, and process efficiency.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the role is a great opportunity for Big Four or Top 10 accounting firm first mover from audit or CFO advisory background. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, preparing statutory financial statements, supporting the finance transformation agenda and driving improvements in automation, AI readiness and process efficiency. The position also includes ownership of lease accounting under AASB 16 and support for emerging compliance requirements, including ESG readiness.

What You'll Do

Own the end-to-end month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial results.

Maintain the integrity of the P&L; and balance sheet with a focus on accuracy of the numbers.

Prepare key balance sheet reconciliations.

Support the finance team's AI readiness and automation initiative by documenting current-state processes, workflows and policies.

Identify opportunities for automation to enhance financial reporting, analysis, reduce manual effort and strengthen controls.

Prepare detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods, providing transparent and insightful commentary to senior stakeholders as part of the Board Pack.





Prepare and coordinate the annual statutory financial statements for Australian entities in accordance with AASB/IFRS requirements.

Serve as the key contact for external auditors, coordinating audit requests, facilitating communication across the business and ensuring audit deliverables are met.

Take full ownership of lease accounting across the Flynn Group ANZ portfolio in compliance with AASB 16.

Liaise with operations and legal teams on new, modified, or terminated leases and assess accounting implications.

Prepare lease-related disclosures for statutory reporting purposes.

Partner with IT and business stakeholders to implement AI-enabled solutions/automation in the finance function.

What You'll Bring

CA qualified with minimum 3-5 years’ experience and a background in a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firm.

Demonstrated track record of finance transformation projects.

Proven experience reviewing financial statements, with a strong understanding of required notes, declarations and compliance obligations under accounting and tax requirements.

Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance efficiency. Ability to identify opportunities for AI and automation to improve finance processes.

Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics or equivalent ERP system.





Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts, systems and accounting treatments and apply them in a practical environment.

Ability to work autonomously.
