A brand-new kitchen is opening at Cedars Tavern at the end of September, and we’re looking for an experienced Full-Time Sous Chef to help establish the operation.
Working alongside the Head Chef, you’ll prepare for opening, build robust service routines and support the development of the team.
You may be able to start early, with onboarding at Prospect Hotel Motel or O’Donoghues before transitioning to Cedars.

What You’ll Do
- Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen leadership and preparation for opening
- Lead service and keep food quality, timing and presentation consistent
- Guide, train and support chefs, cooks and kitchen team members
- Assist with ordering, stock control, food costs and waste management
- Maintain strong food safety,
cleanliness and compliance standards
- Step up and lead the kitchen when the Head Chef is away
Who We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Sous Chef or senior chef in a busy pub, bistro or high-volume kitchen
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification
- A confident service leader who communicates clearly and supports their team
- Strong knowledge of food safety, stock control and kitchen operations
- Someone who wants to help establish a kitchen—not simply inherit an existing operation
