The Role

Applecross SHS is seeking a dedicated, innovative, and passionate Design and Technology educator to join our dynamic Technologies Learning Area in 2027.

As part of the Technologies Learning Area, which includes Design and Technology, Home Economics, and Digital Technologies, you will join a collaborative team committed to providing engaging, relevant, and future-focused learning experiences that develop students' creativity, problem-solving skills, practical abilities, and capacity to design solutions for real-world challenges.

The successful applicant will ideally bring a strong student-focused mindset, a relationship-driven teaching approach, and a genuine passion for Design and Technology. You should be committed to building positive relationships with students and creating a safe, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment where students are challenged, supported,

and empowered to achieve their best.

You will ideally deliver an engaging and contemporary Design and Technology curriculum across lower and upper school levels. This includes designing learning experiences that develop students' understanding and application of the Technology and Design Process, while providing opportunities to investigate, generate, develop, produce, evaluate, and refine design solutions.

A strong understanding of materials, processes, technologies, and practical workshop learning will be valued. The ability to confidently teach across various Design and Technology contexts and adapt learning experiences to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of our students will support success in the role.

At Applecross SHS, we emphasise high-impact teaching, purposeful curriculum planning and assessment, differentiation, and student engagement. The successful applicant should be able to plan and deliver effective learning programs, use assessment evidence to inform teaching, provide meaningful feedback, and support students to take greater ownership of their learning.

There are opportunities to contribute to the broader development of the Technologies Learning Area through STEM initiatives, interdisciplinary learning, curriculum development, and the integration of contemporary technologies and digital design tools. The ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across Design and Technology, Home Economics and Digital Technologies, will be an important part of contributing to the team.

Experience delivering STEM-related curriculum, incorporating CAD and digital technologies into design and production,

or contributing to innovative technology-based learning initiatives will strengthen an application.

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain it, will be well regarded and may provide opportunities to contribute to the Learning Area's growing VET offerings.
