About the role:
The Adviser will work across a range of functions related to the administration of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 and Cemeteries and Crematoria Regulations 2025. The role provides advice to cemetery trusts on good governance practices and compliance with legislative obligations. The role assists in the assessment of cemetery fee applications submitted by cemetery trusts and supports the cemetery grants program.

Key functions in cemetery legislation administration include:
- Review and implementation of legislation, policy setting and strategic planning.
- Provision of advice about the operation of the Act and Regulations.
- Education of trust members and the promotion of good governance principles.
- Investigation of complaints relating to trust governance failure.
- Coordination with other government agencies and sector stakeholders on sector issues.
- Evaluation and endorsement of trust fee applications.
- Processing of appointment applications, grant applications and financial reports.
