Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and experienced Speech Pathologists to join our dynamic team on a casual basis. Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role:
We are offering casual Grade 2 Speech Pathology roles for clinicians with a special interest in adult acute caseloads to support our weekend service. There may also be opportunities for weekday casual shifts to support service demand and suit your availability.
These opportunities are ideal for clinicians looking to broaden their clinical experience within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary environment, while contributing meaningfully to patient outcomes.
In this role, you will:
- Work independently with a diverse adult inpatient caseload across acute hospital wards
- Assess and manage patients presenting with communication and swallowing disorders
- Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient-centred care
- Provide culturally responsive care within a diverse and multicultural health service
- Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, flexibility, and effective time management in a busy clinical environment

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and good working knowledge of the assessment and management of adult patients presenting with disorders of communication and swallowing in an acute setting
- Robust interpersonal communication skills
- Strong self-reflection skills and positive attitude to learning
- Demonstrated flexibility in caseload management, in particular, an ability to manage a busy and varied caseload
- Ability to work autonomously
