About the Role:

Excellent opportunity for a Staff Engineer to join the Digital Wealth team in one Australia's most successful digital organisations. You will bring extensive technical expertise and a pragmatic approach to software design and architecture. This role combines principal engineering, technical architecture and people leadership, with a strong focus on building outstanding software and solving complex technology challenges.

What We're Looking For:

- Strong technical background, preferably in Java, with a computer science education or equivalent experience
- Proven success leading complex engineering initiatives and collaborating effectively across teams
- Experience building scalable, maintainable and performant web applications within an Agile product workplace
- Strong hands-on coding, system design and code review experience across diverse services and platforms
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of an organisation
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to simplify and optimise complex processes and evaluate emerging technologies
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability, with a focus on developing high-performing engineering teams
- Solid understanding of code quality, rigorous testing practices and robust security standards




- Experience partnering with product managers to align engineering initiatives with strategic business objectives
- Expertise in application reliability, uptime management, incident response and post-mortem analysis

What You'll Be Doing:

- Taking technical ownership of products and platforms across design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance
- Solving complex technical problems through hands-on coding and providing close technical direction to engineering teams
- Leading system design and making pragmatic architectural decisions across diverse services and platforms
- Providing technical leadership on complex technology issues across the organisation
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to their ongoing technical growth
- Supporting hiring and helping build high-performing, psychologically safe engineering teams
- Partnering with product managers to ensure engineering initiatives support strategic business objectives
- Maintaining high standards of code quality, testing, security, reliability and performance
- Driving continuous improvement through incident response, post-mortem analysis and ongoing optimisation
- Researching and implementing emerging technologies where they can improve engineering outcomes
