THE POSITION
This is a high-profile Consultant / Staff Specialist position offering a broad and professionally rewarding scope of practice across the full continuum of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical leadership, oversight, and direct patient care across acute obstetrics, complex antenatal care, and advanced gynaecological surgery. You will play an active, vital role in managing a diverse and high-acuity casemix, operating on a structured shift roster with a mandatory 24/7 on-call requirement, acting as the senior clinical decision-maker on-call, and participating in multi-disciplinary care planning.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a highly progressive, fully accredited RANZCOG training facility and a major tertiary referral service managing one of the busiest and most complex obstetric caseloads in the state. The department operates a high‑volume birthing suite, specialized maternal‑fetal medicine clinics, and complex gynaecology services including advanced laparoscopic surgery, urogynaecology, and gynaecological oncology services.
Co‑located with a state‑of‑the‑art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the department serves as the primary regional referral hub for high‑risk obstetric transfers and complex maternal conditions. It boasts a deeply collaborative, multidisciplinary workforce comprising senior specialists, clinical midwife consultants, specialized allied health practitioners, and an active academic research unit strongly integrated with a top‑tier medical research institute.
