Join the Pickers Vinyl & Canvas Team – Fitter/Installer Wanted
Location: Cairns, Far North Queensland
With over 40 years of local experience, Pickers Vinyl & Canvas is a proud industry leader in the design, manufacture, and installation of shade sails, blinds, awnings, banners, and tonneau covers. Operating from our Cairns-based manufacturing centre, we are committed to quality workmanship and innovation in every project we deliver.
We are currently seeking a motivated Installer/Labourer to join our dedicated installation team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work and is looking to build a long-term career in a respected, locally owned business.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Installer/Labourer, your tasks will include:
- Installation of shade sails, posts, roof fittings, outdoor blinds, and waterproof covers
- Manual and mechanical digging (excavation)
- Preparing and pouring concrete footings
- Carrying and installing steelwork and support structures
- Working at heights and using ladders or harness systems
- Using laser levels and measuring equipment for accurate installs
- Documenting site progress and job information using Android devices
Skills & Experience:
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Must have a current manual driver’s licence (essential)
- Physical strength and fitness for heavy lifting and outdoor labour
- Confidence using power tools and basic construction equipment
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Certificates required:
- White Construction Card (Workplace Safety in Construction)
- Working at Heights ticket
- Current Australian Manual Driver Licence
Certificates Preferred:
- Working with Children Blue Card
- Excavator ticket
Role Details:
- Position: 38hrs a week
- Potential: Opportunity for permanent full time employment for the right candidate
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, with overtime required during peak periods
