Senior Advisers in the Internal Review Branch are responsible for independently conducting complex, sensitive and high-risk internal reviews across schemes administered by the Social Services Regulator (SSR). The roles critically analyse legislation, evidence and submissions and prepare transparent, lawful and well-reasoned recommendations and draft decisions that support fair, timely and safety-centred outcomes.
As senior practitioners, the roles also promote consistent and high-quality decision-making through peer review, mentoring, case conferencing, portfolio leadership and continuous improvement. Senior Advisers works closely with legal, regulatory and operational areas while maintaining the independence and impartiality of the internal review function
.ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Independently manage complex,
sensitive and high-risk internal reviews from initial assessment through to a decision-ready outcome, meeting statutory and organisational timeframes.
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, identify review powers and jurisdictional requirements, critically assess evidence and submissions, and obtain further information where required.
- Prepare clear, concise and defensible recommendations, briefings and draft reasons that support lawful, fair, evidence-based and safety-centred decision-making.
