About the company:
Our client has been appointed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils. Public Skills Australia works with employer and employee representatives (career and volunteer) from the Public Safety and Government industry-sectors - Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Correctional Services, Defence, Federal, State/Territory, and Local Government - and provides the following services in support of industry:
- Development and consultation of workforce planning and training products that meet industry and policy needs.
- Implementation, promotion and monitoring of strategies that drive improvement of training delivery and monitor resulting impacts.
- Stewardship of intelligence relating to workforce challenges and skill needs.
About the position:
The Project Officer provides support in planning, co‑ordinating, and delivering projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organisational objectives. This role acts as a key link between project managers, stakeholders, and operational teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Co‑ordinate project activities, resources and documentation.
- Track progress against milestones and prepare regular status reports for stakeholders.
- Manage and mitigate project risks.
- Facilitate communication between cross-functional project teams, management, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records, including project documentation, contracts and compliance requirements.
- Support internal governance processes.
Key selection criteria
Demonstrated skills,
qualifications and competencies:
- Solid organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Trello, Asana) and Microsoft Office Suite., particularly MS Word and Excel
- Experience and skill to analyse data and prepare clear reports.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in project management in a small to medium business
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking
- Exceptional proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management, able to adjust style to diverse audiences and role levels.
- A National Police Check required
- A current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
This position is based at the company's office within the Melbourne Central Business District (CBD). The candidate will be required to attend the Melbourne office as necessitated by business and deliverable requirements. Our client supports flexible working arrangements, with a focus on balancing staff needs with work requirements. Some national travel MAY be required from time to time throughout the project.
