This post is available to commence from the 22 September 2026 until the 28 February 2027 in the first instance.

This post are particularly suited to those wishing to gain experience further experience in tertiary Neonatal medicine and in neonatal stabilisation and transport with more detailed information in the attached Job Description

In addition to the clinical experience gained, these posts are ideal for those wishing to develop their skills in prioritisation and troubleshooting and are suitable for those already in possession of CCT

Successful applicants are encouraged to undertake quality improvement projects and to develop their teaching skills by involvement in the local education programme and simulation training.

Applicants need to demonstrate an interest in Neonatology with a good level of procedural skills.

Please note that these posts donotcarry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

This post would be suitable for either:

- A Senior Paediatric trainee looking to gain further experience in Tertiary Neonatal medicine and in the stabilisation and transfer of sick neonates and who are looking to develop management and logistical decision-making skills with the opportunity to act up as a Consultant.
- A Senior Clinical Fellow not in the UK training system with good experience in neonatal medicine but wishing to gain further experience in neonatal medicine and neonatal transport.





The Clinical Fellow will have the chance of working in Neonatal PaNDR (Paediatric and Neonatal Decision Support and Retrieval Service) for the East of England or The Rosie Neonatal Unit in Cambridge.

PaNDR completes over 1200 neonatal transfers per year with over 600 emergency transfers and receives referrals from the 17 hospitals across the East of England and beyond. We are one of the busiest teams in the UK. With Consultant support you will be trained to transfer sick medical and surgical newborns.

The Neonatal service in Cambridge offers the full range of Neonatal intensive care facilities including neonatal surgery, Neonatal Neurosurgery and Neonatal neurocritical care. There are approximately 6000 deliveries per year, many of these are ‘high risk deliveries’ referred to the tertiary foetal medicine service in the Rosie Hospital.

The neonatal unit has 40 cots 26 intensive and high dependency care and 12 special care cots.

This post offer training and experience identical to those of level 3 Specialty Trainees. You will have the opportunity to join in the wide range of educational and training opportunities within NICU and in Neonatal Transport which match those of recognised training posts.
